Horace (The Iron Poet) is a playable Hero and member of the Bandit Clan. He is one of the four Bandit characters first introduced during the Armello Kickstarter campaign, and is available as a timed exclusive to those who pledged the requisite amount during that period. At the time of the tablet release, the Bandit Clan characters (and other Kickstarter goodies) will be opened to the public as DLC in the Spring of 2016.

Description[]

Horace is an imposing-looking badger warrior wearing steel armor covered in a white cloth tabard. He wields a large bardiche that he keeps strapped to his back when it presumably isn't being used to cleave foes like fleshy timber. As a member of the Bandit Clan, he is unaffiliated with any other species-related group, nor a member of any particular society save his partners in crime.

Story[]

Legends of this warrior were heard far and wide, long before his time in the Order of the Rose; a Bane cleaved clean in half, holding ground for five straight nights at the Battle of Herald’s Pass, the execution of the barbarian leader, Talon, and perhaps most famous of all... his defense and savior of His Majesty the King, during the climactic moments of the Black Paw Plot.

To say that Horace the Iron Poet is legend, would be an understatement.

Long gone are those days. Animals forget, but Horace remembers. This old knight, loyal and true, remembers the night his brothers and his sisters of the rose betrayed him. This badger, bold with honor, remembers the morning that they came for him, ten deep, gold and blue, halberds at the ready. This master warrior and faithful servant to the Kingdom of Armello remembers the true King… the light before the darkness.

That night when Horace first raised concerns over the King’s health should now be distant memory, but long has he waited, patient, diligent, tending to his armor religiously; the last remaining bastion of the honor he once held. He bides his time indulging in the fairer arts. These, the softer, slower moments of life bring peace to his determined mind.

For when the time comes, Horace the Iron Poet, brother of the nine knights of the Order of the Rose, will cross the marble floor of the Royal Throne Room and banish the darkness that binds our King, his liege and battle brother.

Gameplay[]

Stats=[]

Horace has good Body and Fight stats in exchange for poor Wits and Spirit stats.

Hero Power[]

9th Knight: King's Guards will trade tiles with Horace if he moves into their tile, unless he has a bounty. Horace is a very straight-forward hero to play - go for Quests, use your durability, power, and low profile to stay alive, and enter the Palace at the right time. The ability to swap places with King's Guards can be useful - look to put King's Guards in your opponent's way, or on a Settlement you control. If you fall behind on Quests, look to simply win by a Kingslayer victory, either by managing to clear a Palace peril, or by displacing an opponent that does that for you with your combat abilities.

Rings[]

Bandit Clan rings grant its heroes benefits from all four clans. Heroes are given a bonus on Mountains from the Wolf Clan, card Burning benefits from the Bear Clan, complimentary gold from the Rabbit Clan, and Settlement Stealth from the Rat Clan.

Name Effect Unlock
Serendibite Ring Serendibite Gain +1 Prestige and +1 Gold for each King's Guard killed.

Note: You still lose 1 Prestige for killing a King's Guard, this ring simply negates losing Prestige from it.
